Soon after purchasing the property in 1980, Bill Meagher began converting the building into a creamery. Many resorts throughout the country have top-end ice cream stores, such as Hagen Daz or Baskin Robbins. Families look forward to hitting these creameries at least once during their stay for a good ice cream fix. Bill realized that Deep Creek did not have a comparable produce and that a top-end creamery was a niche in the market that could be profitably filled.
