It began on Aug 12, 1930, when Matt Sr. and wife Velma purchased 7.75 acres with 1,358.5 feet of lake front from Charles and Helen Bar of Brownsville, Pennsylvania. This is when Storey’s Bar was built along old Rt. 219 close to where the Mountain View Condominiums are today. The Storeys had a chicken coop and during the peak weekends it was common to butcher three or four dozen chickens and clean them on Friday to be barbequed for the weekend and served at the bar. The bar was a favorite with locals as well as the weekenders. It opened a 9:00 a.m. for those wanting to start off their day with a beer and did not close until the last customer left, sometimes early the next morning.
