Begun in 1941 by World War I veteran Ogilvie Halsey (1890-1970), who was born and raised in Manhatten, New York City. He was married to Blanche Jane (Green) Halsey (born in Swanton, Maryland in 1897 and died in 1985) and they raised a daughter and five sons while running Halsey’s Lakeside Park along US Rt 219 prior to reaching the bridge heading south.
